The Digital Product Regulation Innovation Network (DPRIN) — a UK initiative bringing together regulators, academics, and technology experts — have worked in partnership with Dock Labs to verify product compliance in real time, helping prevent unsafe or non-compliant goods from being sold through online marketplaces.

The collaboration initially focuses on the example of eBike compliance, a growing concern as high-risk products are increasingly sold online with limited oversight, and will soon extend to other regulated product categories where real-time verification can enhance safety and consumer trust.

Using Dock Labs’ Truvera platform in close collaboration with their team, DPRIN has developed a digital compliance solution that makes regulatory data transparent, tamper-proof, and instantly verifiable across the supply chain.

Through this solution:

  • Manufacturers issue verifiable digital credentials for Declarations of Conformity and Technical File Assurances.
  • Sellers self-certify marking and labeling evidence and user safety information.
  • Approved providers issue credentials for age verification and battery recycling compliance.

Verifiable credentials are secure digital certificates that prove information is genuine and comes from a trusted source. Thanks to advanced cryptography, they cannot be modified or corrupted. All credentials are stored in a cloud-based organizational wallet powered by Truvera, enabling marketplaces to automatically verify compliance before products are listed. Regulators can access compliance data directly through the marketplace without needing to track down individual sellers, ensuring full transparency and accountability across the supply chain.

By shifting from post-market investigation to pre-listing verification, DPRIN’s initiative demonstrates how verifiable credentials can turn compliance from a manual, reactive process into a digital-first, proactive safeguard that protects consumers, supports legitimate sellers, and gives regulators real-time visibility across digital commerce.

“Working with DPRIN on this initiative shows how verifiable credentials can move compliance from a fragmented, manual burden to a connected, real-time capability that works at scale. By making regulatory data instantly verifiable and tamper-proof, we are helping marketplaces, regulators, and manufacturers stop unsafe products before they reach consumers, while also creating a fairer environment for responsible sellers. This collaboration demonstrates how digital credentials can become the foundation for trusted, compliant digital commerce across the UK and beyond,” said Nick Lambert, CEO of Dock Labs.

Iain Corby of the Age Verification Providers Association who led the work with Dock Labs for DPRIN said: “Checking products sold online has been put in the ‘too difficult’ box for years — but through this innovative use of verifiable credentials, we found the Truvera platform to be ready-made to meet the complex business requirements our consortium had been exploring.  We have engaged with government departments, regulators and sectors selling high-risk products, where responsible retailers are being undercut by non-compliant online sellers, to define this problem, conceive a solution and then find the technology needed to deliver it — we found the ideal platform from Dock Labs”
