Inside World ID: How “Proof of Human” Works [Live Event]

World wants to help people prove they’re unique humans online. An individual can obtain a verified World ID at an Orb — a camera that takes images of the eyes and face —  to verify your humanness and issue a reusable, self-custodial “proof of human” credential. The goal? A global, permissionless infrastructure that works across borders, complementing existing identity systems such as government-issued IDs.

But how does World ID fit into a digital identity landscape getting more crowded with mDLs, EUDI wallets, and verifiable credentials?

In this episode, Ajay Patel, Head of World ID at Tools for Humanity, explains how World ID works and the thinking behind its design. He’s joined by Kim Hamilton Duffy, CEO of a startup in stealth mode and former Executive Director at the Decentralized Identity Foundation, who shares her perspective on how systems like this intersect with privacy, interoperability, and the broader digital ID landscape.

We’ll cover:

  • Why World ID uses the iris to verify humanity and how the enrollment process works at the Orb
  • How World ID addresses privacy
  • Where World ID fits in the digital ID ecosystem and how it relates to mDLs, EUDI, and verifiable credentials
  • How identity might work in a world of AI agents and what happens when humans delegate control
  • What adoption looks like globally and how World ID is being used today

A timely conversation about identity infrastructure and why getting it right matters.
